Memories of Mom…

What kind of Mom do you have? Is she a June Cleaver type? a Martha Stewart? When you were a kid, would she whip you up Julia Child style gourmet meals or was she more into Chef Boyardee? Even if she wasn’t a wiz in the cucina, we all have fond memories of Mom’s cooking from when we were growing up… for many of us she was or continues to be our inspiration in the kitchen. My fondest memory is coming home from school to the smell of tomato sauce that had been simmering all afternoon and when I would then “fare la scarpetta” with her homemade bread and that heavenly sauce.

So, we want to hear YOUR favourite memories! In honour of all the Moms (Grandmas, Nonnas, Nans, Aunties or Sisters) who’ve imprinted you for life with a love and passion for food… share them with us. Send them or post them here on the blog, via email, Facebook, twitter or DM and from all that we receive one will be randomly chosen to win a Mother’s Day Olive Oil Merchant gift pack for their Mom. The package is valued at over $75 and includes 2 bottles of artisan evoo, a bottle of Tuscan wine vinegar and a jar of artichokes in evoo. Does your Mom deserve that? We thinks so!

Deadline is April 30th and the contest is open to everyone (except my brother!) with the only limitation being the package destination must be within North America. The winner will be contacted on May 1st for shipping instructions.

Even if your “memory of Mom” doesn’t get chosen, your foodie Mom should still be remembered. From now until Mother’s Day, choose from our selection of Favourites for Mom and get a 15% discount with coupon code “foodiemom”.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Some of my favorite recipes came from my mother, like her grandmother, was famous for her pies the best flakey crust and homemade fillings. We would gather ripe strawberries, juicy blackberries, even green gooseberries for Mom’s pies. All of Mom’s desserts were absolutely scrumptious.
